Job Title: Driller
FLSA: Non-exempt
Reports to: Project Foreman
Operates various drills in drilling operations including surface and underground core and underground reverse circulation
Essential duties and responsibilities
Includes the following and other duties as may be assigned:
- Perform pre-shift inspection
- Set drill on location at correct angle and azimuth
- Operation of various types of drills in a variety of rock formations under various circumstances encountered – i.e. lost circulation, unstable holes, deep overburden, hard and solid rock
- Select drill mud products
- Operate down-hole surveying equipment
- Equipment maintenance and repair
- Train Drill Helper and new employees on proper use of equipment, tools, and safety procedures
- Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment and materials to increase efficiency of work crew or improve job safety
- Prepare paperwork and reports for shift
- Perform activities of workers supervised
- Directly supervise employees on drill crew
- Quality control of safety and productivity for shift
- Report and provide updates to Foreman on drilling status
- Answering phones
- Maintaining paperwork and filing
- Processing supply orders
- Daily communication with home office
- Coordinating travel arrangements of traveling workers

Drillers are often required to stand, bend and twist, use hands and fingers, handle or fell, talk or hear and reach above the shoulders with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk and sit. The Drill Helper often performs repetitious work involving use of hands and wrists.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must pass drug test
- Must pass background check
- Subject to post offer physical
- Must be willing to travel
- High school diploma or GED required
